BEFORE getting a permanent makeup tattoo

please make sure you have been off of accutane for at least ONE YEAR.
avoid chemical peels near eyebrows for at least TWO MONTHS before appointment.
refrain from botox near brows for ONE MONTH before your appointment.
do not get/use retinol or retin-a, facials, harsh acne medicine, sunburned skin for TWO WEEKS before your appointment.
TWO DAYS before your appointment, please avoid consuming alcohol, blood thinners (ibuprofen, aspirin) and caffeine.

for at least ONE MONTH prior to appointment, avoid electrolysis treatments, lip filler, chemical exfoliation/peels, and retin-a or retinol around your lips.
do not partake in waxing or laser hair removal around the mouth for at least TWO WEEKS before appointment.
ONE WEEK before your appointment, be sure moisturize your lips everyday with some kind of chapstick, aquaphor or product containing lanolin. this aslo includes drinking plenty of water!
TWO DAYS before your appointment, please avoid consuming alcohol, blood thinners (ibuprofen, aspirin) and caffeine.
MOST IMPORTANT INFO- if you experience cold sores or have been diagnosed with herpes simplex virus 1, it is imperative that you read the following info!
FIVE DAYS before your appointment, it is highly reccomended that you take an over-the-counter antiviral prescribed by a licesensed physician. the medications typically prescribed include VALACYCLOVIR & VALTREX. This will significantly lower the risk of an outbreak post appointment.
what to expect DURING your appointment — the process

whether you choose to proceed with brows or lips, your appointment will begin with selecting a pigment or tattoo ink that best complements your natural features.
for BROWS, britt will carefully choose a shade that most closely matches your natural brow hair to ensure a seamless and flattering result.
for LIPS, the pigment selection is more personalized. You’ll have the option to either enhance your natural lip tone with a subtle, harmonious shade or opt for a more vibrant, contrasting color to make a bolder statement.

once pigments have been chosen, britt will proceed with mapping the lips / brows.
this process will take anywhere from 15 minutes to 40 minutes.

once the desired area has been properly stenciled and mapped out, the tattooing will begin.
the first pass is where the tattoo may feel a little spicy or painful but do not worry!
after this step has been done, numbing cream will be applied to the area. the pores have been opened and will very quickly absorb the solution and you will barely feel any of the tattoo process!
AFTER getting a permanent makeup tattoo

it is important you AVOID sweating for 10 DAYS at least.
avoid makeup from the brow up for 10 DAYS.
NO sun exposure or tanning beds for at least 10 DAYS. failing to do so can result in fading and unpredictable change in color to brow pigment.
avoid excessive water exposure. this includes hot tubs, bath tubs, lakes, beaches, etc.
do NOT to stand with your face directly under the shower head.
avoid picking or peeling your brows, flaking and itching is NORMAL.

for the next FIVE to SEVEN DAYS, please avoid—
makeup applied close to your lips, sweating, steamy showers or hot baths, splashing water on your face, kissing, etc. as well as, touching food and fluids to lips when possible!
for at least TWO WEEKS, please avoid—
avoid spray tans, tanning beds, sunbathing and direct sun
do not use swimming pools, saunas, jacuzzis, oceans, lakes, etc.
do not use beauty treatments near your lips such as waxing, electrolysis and laser hair removal
avoid direct shower spray.
please do not pick or rub lips with anything that is not a clean cotton round or tissue.

GENERAL NOTE —
wash your hands before touching or applying any product to area.
cleanse brows with antibacterial soap or baby soap.
INSTRUCTIONS DAY OF—
after you have gotten your brows tattooed, wipe them with purified water and a cotton round every 3-4 hours. this will remove any build up of fluid or pigment remaining in the brows and will reduce flaking.
before bed, apply a thin layer of aquaphor or aftercare ointment.
DAY TWO THROUGH TEN—
you will need to wash your newly tattooed eyebrows once a day with a gentle and unscented cleanser. apply aftercare ointment throughout the day as needed.
WHAT TO EXPECT—
your eyebrows will be the darkest for the first three days. they may become flakey for days five through eight.
during this time the brows may seem light and faded, but the sharpness should return when fully healed.
because everyone’s skin absorbs ink differently, the tattoo will more than likely require a touch-up within six to eight weeks to refresh any parts that healed lighter.

DAYS ONE THROUGH FIVE—
cleanse lips 2-3 times a day for at least 5 days or until healed and scabbing has completed.
cleanse by dabbing lips with damp cotton pads and then patting with a dry tissue or cotton pad.
apply a new layer of aftercare ointment after every cleanse and in between if needed.
drink through a straw for 5 days or until scabbing has concluded.
be cautious with food and make sure food does not touch the treated area for 5 days or until scabbing has concluded.
try to avoid extremely spicy or salty foods for this period as this would likely affect the healing process and pigment retention.
apply healing ointment before brushing your teeth or getting in the shower to avoid getting the healing area contaminated or wet for 5 days or until scabbing has concluded.
do not touch lips for 5 days or until scabbing has concluded.
if cold sores appear, stop using aftercare ointment on cold-sore affected area and use a special ointment for cold sores. we advise you to use a topical and oral antiviral medication like ZOVIRAX ointment, VALACYCLOVIR and/or VALTREX.
